Dr. Spencer worked with US Postal / Discovery on their 7 year run at le Tour. He will be giving an "inside view" of what goes into running a world class team at the biggest race in the world! Dr. Spencer presented to the Club a few years ago and many people still talk about the presentation. Dr. Spencer raced for PAA in the 1960's and early 1970's and was a member of the US Olympic Cycling Team at the 1972 Munich Olympics.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;When: &lt;/span&gt;   Wednesday July 9th. Meeting kicks off at about 7:15 PM with Dr. Spencer presenting at 7:30 PM. If you somehow missed it, the ride has been in danger of being shut down by the City of Pasadena. Several cyclists (and other users) have been working hard to keep the ride alive. As part of that effort there is a "Rules and Guidelines" form posted that you should fill out and bring with you when you attend your first ride. Please follow this link to &lt;a href="http://www.socalcycling.com"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;SoCalCycling.com&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;, scroll down to the entry about the ride, print out the form, sign it, and bring it. All &lt;span style="border-bottom: 1px dashed rgb(0, 102, 204); cursor: pointer;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1196483982_1"&gt;USA&lt;/span&gt; Cycling licenses are good for 1 year and go from January 1 through December 31.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are already a USA Cycling member OR you want to join your first step is to go to the USA Cycling website at &lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.usacycling.org/"&gt;www.usacycling. org&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you already have a license and need to renew just sign in and go to the renew screen. If you need to join then join. In BOTH cases you SHOULD come to a screen where it asks if you want a Road/Cyclocross license or a Mountain Bike/Cyclocross license. You will be given the option (from a pull down menu) of:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;"PAA"&lt;/span&gt; or &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;"&lt;a target="_blank" href="http://sixtufit.com/"&gt;&lt;span style="background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1196483982_8"&gt;Vitamix/Sixtufit.com&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;"&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you race for &lt;a href="http://www.paaprocycling.com/"&gt;PAA Pro&lt;/a&gt; (you'll know who you are) you choose &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://sixtufit.com/"&gt;&lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1196483982_9"&gt;Vitamix/Sixtufit.com&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;FOR EVERYBODY ELSE (road, track, cross, mountain, cat 4,  45+, 60+, etc) CHOOSE "&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;PAA".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;This step is very important for getting proper point credit in the SoCal Cup.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;If you mess up you CAN change it but the only way to do that is through a re-issue which costs about $15.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you plan on doing more than 1-2 races a year it pays to buy an annual license. You will need an annual license to race any category higher than Cat 5 road men or Cat 4 road women. You will need an annual license to race any category higher than Cat 4 cyclocross.
